Urgency

Today I want to unpack our core value of Urgency as it relates to the worship team.

  • Time is of the essence because life is short.

  • We have one life to live, one chance to make a difference, and no one knows the number of their days.

  • Life can be a journey, but life-changing decisions are made in moments.

  • Today is always the right time to show someone the love of Jesus, because everyone needs Jesus today.

There are two types of urgency.

  • Urgency that enslaves us.

  • Urgency that empowers us.

Urgency does not mean busyness.

You can have busyness without significance.

If we don’t get this order right… we’ll burn out every time.

So what do we do?

  1. Urgency to get at Jesus’ feet.

  2. Urgency to tell people about Jesus

  3. Urgency to prioritize my life around kingdom priorities.

  4. Urgency to carry out the tasks assigned to me by God.

  5. Urgency to take care of ALL OTHER NEEDS.

Acts 20:24 - But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.

So what’s the order of urgency for worship team?

  1. Show up having soaked in the presence of God.

  2. Show up excited to point people to Jesus.

  3. Show up having prepared for the work assigned to us by God.

FINAL THOUGHT: Urgency without a faithful commitment to honor God’s command to take a sabbath, is a sure fire way to flame out!
